Happy New Year? How about Happy New Moments!

Check out these awesome moments of Yoga One staff and students then read on to find out what the BOOM it means!

Dear Readers!

This year, the buzzword around Yoga One is “Boom!”

It originated from our assistant, Rodney. It’s fun to say. It speaks volumes in one effective syllable. It epitomizes what we are up to at the studio and where we want to go this year.

So… What is boom? And why is it our mantra this year?

Boom is an awakening. It’s an expansion outward. It is being out-standing– standing outside yourself and how you conduct business as usual in your life.

Boom is a drawing in- a radical presence, radical acceptance and radical self-love- leading to full self-expression and an expansion outward throughout your life.

Boom is NOW. Not later. Not in a minute, not when the kids grow up, or I get a break, or married, or divorced, or a raise, or grandkids, or whatever. It is RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, NO WAITING.

Boom is wide awake. Epiphany style. It’s “wow!”

Boom is a leap into the unknown- a “leap of faith,” flying on the high trapeze, no net needed, trusting that showing up fully and in the now is all you need. It’s trusting your timing is perfect, and that arms will be there to catch you on the other side.

Boom is a daily practice, a moment-to-moment practice. It is not a New Year’s resolution.

This year at Yoga One we’ve experienced amazing growth. We’ve moved locations, grown more teachers, practiced more than ever. For us, it is a sacred trust. We’ve decided to to show up fully as you also show up fully.

This year, join us at Yoga One as we start an evolution instead of a resolution. Resolving means to solve a problem or to commit firmly, implying “ something is wrong with you” and you better fix it, damn it. What did you resolve for 2011? If you are like me, by December 31st the best of resolutions are long lost (I can’t remember what I was going to do last year).

This year, join me in resolving to not have a resolution. Instead, let’s simply commit to be more present in our life. And when we find we’ve drifted out of our life, come back once more and live fully, each moment. BOOM!

Boom is a daily practice because yesterday’s insights, awareness and growth are today’s head-trips. They are memories. They are soooo yesterday.

Let your practice, whatever that may be, whether it’s on a yoga mat, walking your dog, driving to work, tucking in a child, sitting with friends, staring into the eyes of your beloved, or looking out for a neighbor. Let it be rich and enlivening because YOU ARE IN IT.

Boom is being more, showing up more, feeling more, seeing more, tasting more, and starting it all over again.

Boom is the ride of a life time- your life and your world.

Let’s let each discomfort reveal, like petals unfolding, the prize it offers toward our freedom and joy.
