Did you know that in addition to drinking a balanced fluid intake of water you need electrolytes to stay hydrated?


Electrolytes are things like sodium and potassium which are lost through sweating. So the more you sweat, the more sodium and potassium you lose - and we sweat a LOT here!


Electrolyte replenishers include coconut water, Ultima, Gatorade, and Powerade, which help give you just the right combination fo sodium, potassium, and chloride that your body needs to keep from dehydrating.



We want you to be your biggest, brightest selves, so drink plenty of water and use an electrolyte replenisher such as Ultima, Powerade, or coconut water before, during, and after you hit the mat!
Signs of dehydration can include:
      * Nausea
     * Muscle cramps
     * Dizziness
     * Fatigue

    A few tips

        to keep your

            body hydrated:

  • 60-90 minutes before practice, aim to drink 16-24 ounces of water.
  • 10-15 minutes before you start, you can drink and additional 8-10 ounces.
  • Throughout class, continue to drink water as well as an electrolyte replenisher steadily.
  • After practice, drink 16-24 ounces of a combination of water and electrolyte replenisher for every pound of body weight lost.
  • Try to drink at least 32 ounces of electrolyte replenisher daily.
